Garner Ultimate Blends Almond Crush ‘daily nourished’ Shampoo, Conditioner and Mask

Garnier has introduced a new ‘flavour’ to its Ultimate Blends range of haircare. Almond Crush is the new ‘daily nourisher’ and comes as a shampoo, conditioner and mask, to be used less frequently.

The main positive from this range is the scent. I like it. It’s more vanilla than almond, in my opinion, but it’s very pleasant. Sadly, it doesn’t linger on freshly washed and dried locks.

As for use, all three products have a lovely, thick and creamy texture. The shampoo needs some work, but the conditioner and mask are easily applied. Like a lot of hair products, I was advised to apply liberally, but I cynically believe that manufacturers tell us this so that we use more product more quickly. In this instance, this range does not, however, rinse out particularly well, and I felt that I was left with a ‘residue’. So yes, I’m feeling vindicated here.

I also think some ‘daily’ ranges are also brought out to encourage more product use. When you have longer hair, it isn’t least practical to wash your hair every day. More often than not, I’m right to ignore such instructions. The Almond Crush range, however, is not suitable for anything but daily use. My hair looks and feels greasy before the day is done, even if I carefully avoid applying conditioner or mask to the roots. If my hair looked great after drying, I could forgive it, but it doesn’t. The ends look dry and frizzy, and they feel dry and frizzy.

If you have short hair, and wash it daily, then you might get in with this range. Otherwise, it’s a big disappointing miss here.
